  Is The Watchtower Society Just Copying The Mormon's Model?

  when i was a faithful jw i was pretty much obsessed with the mormon religion.

  to me it was like lord of the rings.

  i knew the characters, the history, the events, the joseph smith stories, the religion's history etc etc etc and i long suspected even then that the watchtower society has been copying certain things from the lds church.. for example, the first thing i noticed was when the book study was dropped and family worship was started.

  I was a 23 year old dub when the watchtower started "the elder arrangement" ...another copy from the Mormons.

  I was on the way out by then.

  i got married--( for the first time ) at a kingdumb hall in Walsall---not the one in the estate agents details, it was a former chapel in some shitty back street. that was 50 years ago.

  The phrase "one of Jehovah's Witnesses"

  jws don't say, "i am a jehovah's witness.".

  instead, they say, "i am one of jehovah's witnesses.".

  what does the second way of saying it convey that the first does not?.

  its about exclusivity. they worship jehovah--the rest of mankind dont. ( daft--i know--everyone worships god--regardless of what name has been assigned to him ).

  its like if you ask a jw a question--they answer "we"--rather than "I"

  we believe this--we dont do that etc

  initially, i liked the studies and felt that i was growing closer to god.

  however, as the studies progressed, they seemed to become increasingly negative and i did not like what i was being taught.

  Allergic to Kingdom Hall

  does anyone else know of a person who has such a sensitive nose or bad allergy that they are allergic to the paint or interior of the kingdom hall somehow and they can’t go inside?

  and that person doesn’t even switch halls they “listen on the phone” all the time.

  i know of a couple people like that.

  The awful treatment of my disfellowshipped cousin still continues

  my cousin was disfellowshipped twenty years ago when he was 18 years old.

  he admitted to the congregation elders that he was fornicating with his ''wordly'' girlfriend.

  the elders were following him and hiding in their cars to see what he was up to.

  ive had my fair share of shunning--both from one son and my daughter. thats 5 grandchildren ive never met.

  my other son is d/f..he and i are close. his mother shuns him. so shes never seen or held his little boy.

  another family wrecked by the watchtower cult.

  i think if a parent refuses a child a blood transfusion--and the child dies--then the parent should be charged with murder.
